Hector Garcia was born in Havana, Cuba, November 19th, 1930, where he
completed his education and received the Master of Guitar and Master of Music
degrees from Peyrellade Conservatory. Upon graduation in 1954 Mr. Garcia joined
the Faculty at Peyrellade as an instructor of Classical Guitar where he remained
on the faculty until 1960. Later in the 60’s and 70’s he established and
chaired the Guitar Department at the University of New Mexico.
From 1969 to 1976 he was assistant to the renown Spanish Guitarist,
Composer/Musicologist Emilio Pujol at classes held annually in Cervera Spain.
Maestro Garcia’s concert performances include the Smithsonian Institute,
Town Hall in New York, numerous orchestral and solo performances in Madrid,
Barcelona, Paris, London, Stockholm, The Hague, Amsterdam, Brussels, The Canary
Islands, and across the USA.
Maestro Garcia currently resides in Miami where he is currently working on
completion of the 5th volume of Escuela Razonada de la Guitarra. The final volume
in a
series of work by Emilio Pujol.
